Beach

South of the Tully River is a 25 km section of essentially undeveloped beaches and tidal creeks. It contains four beaches bordered by five creeks. They are all backed by extensive low, sandy beach and foredune ridge plains that extend up to 5 km inland. Due to the low, wet, sandy nature of the soils the land was not cleared for farming and now the three southern beaches and backing plains are part of the Edmund Kennedy National Park. The only vehicle access to the park is at the southern end at Meunga Creek where there is a camping area and creek boat ramp, plus a resident crocodile.

Beach 792 is 3 km long, faces east and extends from Dallachy Creek to Wreck Creek. Due to its shorter length and lower wave energy, its low tide environment is completely dominated by the tidal shoals and ridged sand flats that extend up to 1 km off the beach.

Swimming

The safest swimming is well clear of the creeks and their strong tidal currents on the central parts of these beaches. You can only swim at mid to low tide because of the extensive tidal shoals and flats.

Surfing

Usually low waves at high tide and nothing but sand flats at low tide.

Fishing

Best in the creek and inlet at mid to high tide, with a boat ramp at Meunga Creek.

General

Four undeveloped and natural beaches that receive little attention despite their close proximity to the highway.
