Beach

The mouth of the Anglesea River protrudes from the coast in lee of an offshore reef. To either side of the river are the weakly consolidated bluffs of Demons Bluff and Point Roadknight. The river and its backing

estuary flow through a low point in the otherwise prominent bluffs. The 700 m long beach begins at the river mouth and runs in front of low bluffs, before the high Demons Bluff is encountered. On the bluffs behind the beach is a caravan park, and there is an access track from here down to the north side of the river mouth.

The beach faces east and, with protection from the reef and Point Roadknight, receives waves averaging about 1 m. These produce a continuous bar, only cut by rips during and following periods of higher waves.

Swimming

Moderately safe under low waves, however be careful if there is a surf, as currents run up the beach away from the river mouth. Stay clear of the river mouth when it is open.

Surfing

Usually low beach breaks.

Fishing

There is a greater chance of rip holes up the beach, while the river is a favourite spot, particularly when open.

General

A popular summer beach owing to its location below the caravan park.

Carpark

Type: Formal parking area
Spaces: 100
