Beach

South of Jamieson Creek, the Great Ocean Road continues to hug the lower parts of the 300 m high, forested slopes. The shore is predominantly resilient sandstone, which produces rock platforms along the base of the slopes and reefs further offshore. In amongst the 2 km of winding road south of Artillery Rocks are four pockets of sandy beaches. All four are less than 100 m long, face the east to south-east and are exposed to waves averaging 1 to 1.5 m. All four have sandy surf zones dominated by the rocks and reefs, with usually one strong, permanent rip draining each beach.

Swimming

These are four hazardous beaches and are unsuitable for safe bathing, apart from in the tidal pools at low tide.

Surfing

The waves tend to close out on the rocks along here. However at Bog Alley, just south of Boggaley Creek, there is a right hander that works in a big outside swell.

Fishing

There are many spots for rock and beach fishing along here. However, be very careful if rock fishing, as the rock platforms are awash at high tide or in big seas.

General

A picturesque section of coast, best suited for viewing.
