Beach

Beach WA 355 is located 1 km to the west in an open south-facing, cliff-rimmed 1.5 km long embayment. The 1.2 km long beach receives high waves at the eastern end, which decrease to less than 1.5 m at the western end, with the surf zone decreasing from 150 m to 80 m in width. There are usually three beach rips, together with permanent rips to either end, the eastern being the more substantial as well as flowing along an irregular rock platform. The beach is backed by 100 m high vegetated slopes, which are blanketed by earlier dunes along the eastern half of the beach. A vehicle track reaches the base of the eastern headland and provides foot access along the rocks to the beach. The Cordinup River reaches the coast 8 km west of Salmon Bay and 2.5 km west of Beach WA 355. Between the river and South Warriup Creek 4 km to the west are six relatively exposed south-facing beaches, each bordered and backed by steep slopes rising from 50-100 m.
