Beach

Beaches WA 1161 is located approximately 14 km south of the wreck site and between it and the wreck are nine beaches located at the base of the cliffs, now named after the Zuytdorp. They are all fronted by the near continuous intertidal reefs, rocks and platforms. Waves average about 1.5 m and persist much of the year making this an exposed, rocky and dangerous coast. Beach WA 1161 is located immediately below the end of the State (dog) Barrier Fence designed to keep dingo out of the south. The beach curves slightly for 300 m along the base of a 20 m high bluff, which rise inland to reach 150 m, 2 km form the shore. The beach is bordered by protruding platforms with a continuous platform fronting the beach.
