Beach

Hampton Harbour beach (WA 1739) is the main recreational beach for Dampier (Fig. 4.381). It is a curving west to northwest-facing 900 m long strip of coarse high tide sand, with a mixture of sand and rock-flats exposed at low tide. The southern half of the beach is undeveloped, while the Esplanade runs along the rear of the northern half of the beach, which is also backed by Hampton sports oval and picnic and bar-b-que facilities located under a grove of coconut palms.
